Die Marktfrau
The town of Neuwied was granted the right to hold markets by the count's privilege of 02.06.1662. Four annual markets were held, while the first weekly market was held on 24 September 1732 at the behest of Count Friedrich Wilhelm von Wied. The market woman on the old market square, where the French market is still held, is a reminder of this.
