The viewpoint "Maria Ruh" offers a magnificent view of the opposite Loreley Rock, deep down to the narrowest point of the Rhine and further downstream to the castles Katz and Maus. The area of the viewpoint was transformed into a landscape park in 2005. A monument commemorates the fathers of the Loreley song: the poets Clemens Brentano and Heinrich Heine, as well as the composer Friedrich Silcher. The name of the place derives from Saint Mary. The viewpoint expresses the polarity between the two female figures, one symbolizing the threatening shore (Loreley) and the other the calm shore (Maria Ruh). The area is located directly on the Rhine castles trail, the dream loop Middle Rhine, and the UNESCO World Heritage Trail.
