Roentgen-Museum Neuwied

Raiffeisenplatz 1 a, 56564 Neuwied

Museum built in the neoclassical style

The museum, built in neoclassical style, has housed interesting collections since 1928, with the focus on the living culture of the 18th and 19th centuries. The luxury furniture of the Neuwieder artists Abraham and David Roentgen is among the most famous residential items of their time in Europe. Emperors and kings were captivated by the artworks.

The Roentgen Museum Neuwied was opened in 1928 as a district museum in a building designed by the Cologne architects Mattar and Scheler. Its collections have constantly grown through numerous new acquisitions, donations, and loans from both public and private ownership. The sensitive design of the Roentgen and Raiffeisen rooms gives visitors the opportunity to discover precious and historically valuable exhibits. Additionally, there are a number of special exhibitions and events. In nice weather, the romantic museum garden also invites visitors to linger after the tour.
