From the time of French and German Impressionism, not only works by Gabriel Faure, Erik Satie, or Camille Saint-Saëns will be heard, but also rediscovered rarities from forgotten composers, who built bridges between the warring countries with their biographies and sound languages.

As a soloist, cellist virtuoso Benjamin Jupé will perform, who received his training at the Berlin University of the Arts and in Sweden with Prof. Mats Rondin. After early competition successes, engagements as a solo cellist led him to the Rheinische Philharmonie Koblenz, the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, the Danish National Symphony Orchestra in Copenhagen, and later the Saarländisches Staatsorchester. Besides his extensive solo work, he regularly performs in various chamber music settings and dedicates himself with great passion to teaching. Benjamin Jupé plays on a violoncello built in Cremona in 2010 by Alessandra Pedota. 

The sensitive accompaniment at the 200-year-old Stumm organ is in the capable hands of Sebastian Hernández-Laverny. The program combines the meditative and expressive sound language of this time with selected poetic texts from the twenties that tell of the struggle for peace and humanity.

The event will take place on Saturday, September 12, from 11:00 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. at St. Peter Bacharach.  A small refreshment will be provided after the matinee.
