The media library of the city of Eltville invites you to a grand culinary reading festival with "Les Croque Messieurs" on Thursday, May 28, 2026, starting at 6 PM at the Platz der Deutschen Einheit. Visitors can enjoy their own packed picnic and drinks from the Lamm-Jung winery while "Les Croque Messieurs" serve a potpourri of the most beautiful, funniest, most informative, and most whimsical texts from the literature of Gourmandise starting at 7 PM.

Behind "Les Croque Messieurs" are more than 25 years of professional experience, during which Ingo Johannes Swoboda and Martin Maria Schwarz have moderated countless wine and gourmet dinners, written hundreds of articles, published books, commented on wine tastings, and given lectures on the subject of food and drink. Throughout their eventful careers, they have rummaged through literature between cellars, kitchens, and desks. In doing so, they discovered texts and thoughts on culinary topics that impressed, astonished, sometimes stirred up emotions, and often brought smiles and laughter.

Their new program includes the discovery of the chocolate kiss after the fall from grace, discussions about candies and champagne, and the question of whether food and drink really keep body and soul together. A night full of exciting stories, tales, and surprises.

The two journalists, authors, and moderators, Ingo Swoboda and Martin Maria Schwarz, take turns presenting, commenting with wit, and complementing from their rich experiences in the kitchen and cellar.

Visitors of the culinary reading festival are welcome to bring their camping chairs, picnic blankets, and cushions. Admission is 12 euros, which includes one drink. Tickets are now available at the Eltville media library. In case of rain, the event will be held in the media library with limited seating and no picnic.
