The Castle on the Rhine Bank

You may already know Capud Draconis from the summer market in Boppard, where the duo plays with bagpipe and drum. A fire spectacle is scheduled for Saturday evening.

The Electorate Castle is a lowland castle located in the old town directly on the Rhine. Its keep was probably built by King Richard of Cornwall around 1265. Later, the Trier Elector Balduin of Luxembourg expanded the complex into a stronghold and customs castle to secure his revenue from the Rhine toll. It is also called Balduinsburg after him. Today, the Boppard Museum showcases the history of the town and a permanent exhibition on Michael Thonet, the famous son of the town, and his bent wood furniture.
