As a native Swiss, Urban Kaufmann led one of the best Appenzeller cheesemakers until 2013. Today, Riesling, Burgundy, and Pinot Noir are at the center of his life. Accompanying these exciting varieties not only in the vineyards but also in his favorite area, the wine cellar, from fermentation to bottling, holds many magical moments for him.

His wife Eva Raps worked for seventeen years as the managing director of the German Prädikatsweingüter association, one of the most important international associations for top-quality wine. At the winery, she is the creative force and is responsible for hospitality, sales, and marketing.

The Kaufmann winery is considered one of the best addresses for Rheingau Riesling. The reliable foundation for everything produced in the winery's cellar is the exceptional portfolio of Rheingau top sites. Vineyards like the famous Hattenheimer Wisselbrunnen and Hattenheimer Hassel are at the heart of the work.

The winery is dedicated not only to the number one in the Rheingau, Riesling, but also to Chardonnay and the Pinot family surrounding the White and Gray Burgundy. Special attention is given to the Pinot Noir, which is grown in the Grand Cru Hattenheimer Hassel.

Only the best wines can grow in an ecologically healthy environment, which is why the winery places great importance on the care of its vineyard soils.

At its own winery events, there are no convenience products. Instead, the winery relies solely on fresh products. Whenever possible, products from organic farming are used, e.g., from Scholzenhof in Wiesbaden Nordenstadt.
